The Indian Subcontinent is a melting pot, the product of multiple human migrations over the past 80,000 years, likely longer. So, the politics of skin color are complicated.  There are no absolutes regarding “colorism” affecting one’s lot in life except that the vast majority of those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder are those with the darkest skin tone.
